My name is Wendy Jekel/Gray. I was born in
California and I met my wonderful husband in San Luis
Obispo near the ocean. After our sons were grown
we decided to go adventuring and being divers and true
"water babies" we found our way to Cudjoe Key where we
have been happily living and working for the last 18
years.
My mom introduced me to stained glass art. She
started making panels using the Tiffany copper-foil
method in her thirties. She is now 82 and still enjoys
her art, so she has been quite an inspiration and
wonderful source of information. Like Mom, I enjoy
using the Tiffany copper-foil method as opposed to lead
because it is stronger and allows for far more detail
and finer solder lines. Stained glass is an
enduring art and these unique art creations will give
pleasure to many generations in the families where they
find a home.
I have made over 200 panels of glass art. You
can see some of them in the book I keep at Frangipani
Gallery. Yes, I do custom windows, transoms and
commissions, but remember: no two pieces of art glass
are ever alike.
