Originally from North Carolina, Deborah moved to Key
west in 2000 after years of visiting. With her
creative and colorful strokes, she captures the vibrant
and sun drenched scenes, lazy afternoons and simple and
charming personalities of such favorite places as Key
West, Pawley's Island, Charleston and Havana.
Deborah is a graduate of Louisburg College and was a
student of The Art Instruction Schools. She has
studied under many well-known instructors including Key
Austin, Sanford Birdsey, Priscilla Coote, Anne
Salisbury, Mike Rooney and Judy Crane, and is a former
member of the Florida Watercolor Society and the North
Carolina Watercolor Society. She presently
concentrates on watercolors, acrylics and oils of Key
West scenes and paints plein air whenever possible.
She has sold paintings throughout the US and Europe, and
has contributed many works to Stand Up For Animals,
Habitat for Humanity, The Aids Foundation, The Anne
McKee Artists Fund, Art Behind Bars and The Learning
Her work has been shown at Wake Visual Arts and The
Contemporary Gallery in Raleigh, NC. In Key West she has
shown at The Key West Artist Market, Pineapple Gallery,
The Lighthouse Museum, The Custom House Museum, SoDu
Gallery (1st place in watercolors at the 2007 "From A
Woman's Hand Show"), The Studios of Key West, Island
Arts Co-op, Stone Soup Gallery and Island Wynds.
